March 24, 2018
In August 2018, the RMGA solicited volunteers for a ground count in the Henry Mountains, Montana.

On the southern edge of Montana exists a population of mountain goats that were first surveyed in 2013 by a small group of RMGA volunteers. The newly discovered pocket of goats were found in high numbers. In 2014, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks opened the area to hunting with the issuing of two permits annually. After four hunting seasons, the RMGA will be heading back into HD-361-20 for a summer census.
We need your help! On August 4-5, teams of RMGA volunteers will head into the high-country for a weekend-long mountain goat count. This survey requires capable and experienced backpackers. Mandatory equipment includes quality boots, camping gear and optics. Three to five search parties will divide and survey the pocket of mountains.
