Citizen Science Program
This program supports wildlife managers of mountain goat populations through citizen science efforts.
Citizen science projects allow RMGA and wildlife agencies to more accurately observe and forecast the health of mountain goat populations, particularly in underfunded areas. RMGA members and volunteers, in partnership with local wildlife agencies, put boots on the ground to complete mountain goat counts in targeted areas. Citizen Science projects are often led by Regional Representatives, dedicated volunteers appointed by the Board to be the primary contacts for their communities. One of the direct results of these projects is that wildlife agencies have used this data to justify releasing additional hunting tags. The RMGA team and partners also work directly with specific mountain goat herds or habitat, which might include relocation and collaring projectss
